Vocational Education and Training or VET refers to education and training that focuses on delivering the skills and knowledge required for a wide range of industries. VET in schools is ߣ´óʦapp gaining practical work-related skills to equip students for the world of work while they are at school.
At NCC, our commitments to students in this area extend to the development of award-winning Hospitality and highly experienced professionals involved in program delivery.
VET in Schools courses enables students to earn credit towards a nationally recognised VET qualification while they complete the general education curriculum or work towards a senior secondary certificate.
VET Subjects at a Certificate, I or II levels, do not contribute to an ATAR but can provide students with a Vocational Qualification Certificate, a Tertiary Entrance Rank and points towards their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
Participating in VET programs can:
- provide credit points towards the attainment of a Queensland Certificate of Education, and/or the attainment of a nationally recognised VET qualification
- receive an industry-specific vocational Certificate or Statement of Attainment
- support students’ transitions to employment, vocational and higher education pathways
Other benefits of participating in VET include (but are not limited to):
- obtaining practical experience from work
- gaining familiarity on how a workplace operates
- developing employability skills
- developing and improving interpersonal skills
- allowing students to explore the potential career path that they would like to pursue
Students at ߣ´óʦapp College can access VET in a number of ways including:
- through ߣ´óʦapp College (30575) as a Registered Training Organisation – providing VET qualifications (AQF levels I, II)
- through another Registered Training Organisation
- through a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship

SIS20122 Certificate II in Sport & Recreation
This qualification allows individuals to develop basic functional knowledge and skills for work in customer contact positions in the sport or community recreation industry. These individuals are competent in a range of administrative activities and functions within a team and under supervision. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks using practical skills and basic sport and recreation industry knowledge.
They work in locations such as sport and recreation centres or facilities, and leisure and aquatic centres assisting with the conduct of recreation activities, and facility maintenance and operations.
Possible job titles include:
- community activities assistant
- customer service assistant
- leisure assistant
- recreation assistant
- retail assistant
- grounds assistant
- facility assistant.
Students must complete ten (10) nits of competency: 6 Core Units and 4 Elective Units.

BSB10120 Certificate I in Workplace Skills
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have not yet entered the workforce, and are developing the necessary skills in preparation for work. They may undertake a variety of simple tasks under close supervision.
This qualification provides a range of introductory skills and knowledge to provide individuals with an understanding of the business environment.
Students must complete six (6) units of competency: 2 core units + 4 elective units

BSB30120 Certificate III in Business
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. It is likely that these individuals are establishing their own work performance.
Individuals in these roles carry out a range of routine procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require technology and business skills. They apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.
Students must complete thirteen (13) units of competency: 6 core units + 7 elective units

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who participate in a range of routine and predictable hospitality work activities. They work under close supervision and are given clear directions to complete tasks.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
Possible job titles include:
- bar useful
- food runner
- glass runner
- housekeeping assistant
- kitchen steward
- kitchen useful.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills and basic industry knowledge. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.

SIT30622 Certificate III in Hospitality
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a range of well-developed hospitality service, sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage and gaming.

- front desk receptionist
- front desk assistant

SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery
This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in kitchens who use a defined and limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items.
They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision. This qualification does not meet the requirements for trade recognition as a cook, but can provide a pathway towards achieving that.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops; and institutions such as aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons, and schools.
Students must complete thirteen (13) units: 7 core units + 6 elective units

This qualification is intended to address the need for increased financial literacy and basic financial skills of entrants wishing to build potential pathways into the industry.

This qualification is designed to facilitate an understanding of the Australian financial services marketplace and personal financial situations to address the need of increased nationwide financial literacy. The qualification provides learners with the basic skills and knowledge to pursue further learning in a variety of sectors in the financial services industry.

FBP20221 Certificate II in Baking
The Certificate II in Baking describes the skills and knowledge of a baker’s assistant working in a commercial baking environment.

Students are also offered the opportunity to undertake qualifications through an external Registered Training Organisation (RTO). ߣ´óʦapp College has agreements in place for the delivery of:
- AHC21216 Certificate II in Rural Operations through the University of Queensland (UQ Skills, RTO 1511). This qualification is completed as a timetabled subject with compulsory practical training camps at the University of Queensland Gatton Campus taking place throughout the course. Students learn the practical foundation skills required to work across a range of entry-level employment positions in agriculture, horticulture and animal care. - HLT23221 Certificate II in Health Support Services through Connect ‘n’ Grow (RTO 40518). The Health and community services sectors are the largest growing industries in Australia, estimated to grow by over 20% over the next five years. The Certificate II in Health Support Services will provide students with a basic understanding of the skills reflecting the role of workers who provide support for the effective functioning of health services. - HLT3315 Certificate II in Health Services Assistance through Connect ‘n’ Grow (RTO 40518). The Certificate III in Health Services Assistance [Assistant in Nursing] involves the worker in direct client contact under supervision. - 11236NAT Certificate III in Christian Ministry and Theology through Evolation Learning Pty Ltd (RTO 45219). This course is intended to provide participants with the following knowledge and skills to deepen their understanding of Christian theology and to perform limited functions associated with serving in a Christian church group or ministry context: knowledge of theological sources; understanding of theological information; understanding of Christian practice; skills to identify theological insights; Ability to communicate theology effectively.
